My Productive Morning Routine

If there is one thing that I hold sacred–it’s my mornings. The more I’ve worked on my healthy habits over the years (see: New Years Resolutions), the more my mornings have shaped into a chance for me to reflect, get things done, and start my days right. Now that I’ve officially found a routine that’s really working for me, I thought I’d share. Read on if you’re interested!

I love lighting Vellabox candles to keep my house smelling fresh while I get ready in the morning!

My morning (ideally) starts around 6:00. I like to break everything up into 30 minute increments so I know I’m staying on schedule.

6:00 – 6:30

These 30 minutes are some of my favorite of the day. I get up and head downstairs–bed head and all. I make a cup of coffee and I sit on the couch for some reading time. Typically Zeus follows me down and sleeps between my legs while I read.

I’ll usually take a few minutes here to write out my to-do list for the day, organized by priority level. Then I plan out the rest of my day in 30 minute increments. I plan my day based on the types of items on my to-do list.

For example, if I’m working on a project on my computer for one hour, I’ll intentionally schedule an off-screen project next up on the list.

This has been a GAME CHANGER for my productivity. I love using this pretty Daily List Pad from Wilde House Paper (small business that prioritizes sustainability). I’ve always been a list gal, so I really enjoy this time and find it hard to pull myself away when my 6:30 alarm goes off.

6:30 – 7:00

Eventually I peel myself away from my sweet pup and warm cup of coffee and make my way back upstairs. While Zeus crawls back into bed with Taylor, I brush my teeth, wrangle my hair in a bun, and throw on my workout clothes. Then, I fill up a water bottle and head to the gym.

7:00 – 7:45

I used to swear up and down that I would never be a morning workout person. Now that I’ve made it a habit, I found that it has a huge impact on my energy and mood throughout the day. On days I skip the morning workout and go after work, I am drained and cranky and the day just drags on. So really, I’m doing the world a service by getting my workouts in early. You’re welcome!

7:45 – 8:15

Once I make it back to the house, I whip up a quick breakfast and work on my second cup of coffee (don’t judge me). If you’re curious, breakfast is usually an egg white and spinach scramble, or a green smoothie.

As a part of my routine, I make my bed and light a candle on my nightstand.

8:15 – 9:00

Coffee in hand, I head back upstairs to get ready for the day. It starts with a quick rinse followed by my beloved skincare routine (by Haldi). While my moisturizer and sunscreen soaks in, I make the bed, pick up the bedroom, open the curtains and light a candle. Then I head back into the bathroom to finish getting ready. My alarm goes off at 9:00 and I know it’s time to take my vitamins and get to work!

So that’s my beloved morning routine! By the time 9:00 rolls around, I’ve worked out, drank 1/4 gallon of water, cleaned my room, made my bed and planned my workday. Everyone’s priorities and mornings are different, but this works for me.

Thanks for stopping by Campbell House this morning. May your coffee be strong and your day be productive! I’d love to hear what kind of things you work into your mornings.
