February Month in Review

Can we all acknowledge how quickly 2021 is flying by? It’s hard to believe we are already saying goodbye to February! I thought it would be fun to share a little rundown of this month’s small wins, accomplishments, and highlights. Without further ado, here’s what made the list!

I Installed A Kitchen Backsplash

This was a big one for me! If you haven’t already seen the blog post with the tutorial and all the details, you can find it here. This project was on my to-do list for almost a full year, but I kept putting it off because it sounded so challenging. Well, turns out it was actually quite easy and, dare I say, fun! I’m pretty proud of myself for this one, so I’m adding it to my “wins” this month.

Our Home Became A Shelter in the Storm

Nothing will make you more grateful for a roof over your head than living through a record-breaking winter storm in the middle of a pandemic. Last week, tragedy came in the form of freezing temperatures, power outages, water shortages, and burst pipes throughout the state of Texas. No one expects to have to plan for something like this, so many of our friends were left without running water and warmth from the cold. We were among the lucky few who had both. It was quite the adventure to open our home to friends in the middle of a pandemic. Actually, half of the battle was venturing out onto the icy roads and getting them to our house. This is where God provided tenfold. Against all odds, we happen to have a 4×4 SUV with snow tires on it! We are still in awe of how everything worked out for the better.

We Started Prepping Our House to Sell

Now that it feels like we’re finally starting to make some progress towards our to-do lists, I can officially say we are prepping to sell! We knew when we bought this house that it wasn’t going to be a long-term situation. We used this house as a sort of “trial run” for flipping properties. It was purely a cosmetic flip, so the work was easy and unnecessary. Now that we’ve lived here over a year, we feel more than ready to move on and take on a bigger project. Unfortunately, while we are itching to get our hands on our next home, we still have quite a few unfinished projects in our current one. Well, we have officially started making our way down the list and it finally feels like progress! This month we finished our tv room, 90% of our bedroom, our dining room and made some progress in the kitchen!

I Started a New Job!

This might be the most exciting update of all! I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to design for an INCREDIBLE creative agency that works exclusively with interior designers! For those of you who don’t know, I’m a graphic designer, and interiors are also a huge passion of mine (clearly). It feels like the biggest blessing to be able to work in an industry I’m passionate about, doing work that I love to do. As an added bonus, my new boss is the most inspiring, creative, and brilliant woman. I feel honored to learn from her and to get to know her personally.

Well, that’s all I’ve got this month. I hope February was good to you, and that your March is even better!
