Modern Dining Room Makeover

Big news–we are selling our house! Buuuut not just yet. We have to finish it first! So the next few months will involve a lot of painting, replacing baseboards, and wrapping up our reno. I’ll be writing a whole other post about why we decided to buy another home before we even finished this one, but that’s for another day. Today is all about the first room we can call done–our dining room! I started here because it didn’t need a whole lot of work. It’s been slowly getting a facelift since we moved in and now we are ready to reveal our neutral, modern dining room makeover!

For reference, here’s the listing photo of the dining room. It really wasn’t in bad shape, just needed some love.

The first thing we did was paint the walls “Polar Bear” by Behr, replace the curtains and swap out the light fixture. Then when quarantine got to me, I DIYed an accent wall that was fun while it lasted! You can find the step-by-step tutorial here.

When it came time to decorate for Christmas, I wanted something simpler and painted over the accent wall. After updating the baseboards, spray painting the window frame black and painting a canvas for the wall, here is our completed dining room!

The centerpiece is actually another DIY (because I just can’t get enough) and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it! Here’s the tutorial.

Let me know what you think and be sure to follow along on Instagram as we finish making over the house room-by-room!
